As a new arrival in Ottawa, I was delighted to discover the pleasures of the Ottawa International Writers Festival. I was equally delighted to discover that the OIWF builds community among writers by soliciting volunteer event reviews. I reviewed two events this year and look forward to participating again in 2017. Here is my review of the book launch for When We Are Bold: Women Who Turn Our Upside Down World Right. Edited by Rachel M. Vincent, the essays in this anthology highlight the mission of the Nobel Women's Initiative. I also reviewed the launch of Charlotte Gray's wonderful new book, The Promise of Canada: 150 Years - People and Ideas That Have Shaped Our Country. Both books are available online and through independent booksellers.
